    Mar 10th, 2025

According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the export volume of cashew nuts in February 2025 is estimated at 25 thousand tons with a value of 170.5 million USD, bringing the total export volume and value of cashew nuts in the first 2 months of 2025 to 62.4 thousand tons and 424.8 million USD, down 31.8% in volume and down 13.7% in value compared to the same period in 2024. The average export price of cashew nuts in the first 2 months of 2025 is estimated at 6,811.5 USD/ton, up 26.7% over the same period in 2024. Previously, according to data from the Customs Department (Ministry of Finance), in January 2025, Vietnam exported 37.36 thousand tons of cashew nuts, worth 254.27 million USD, down 31.2% in volume and 29.9% in value compared to December 2024, down 42.6% in volume and 27.5% in value compared to January 2024. The United States, the Netherlands and China are the three largest cashew nut consuming markets of Vietnam, accounting for 21.7%, 11.8% and 7.1% market shares respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the export value of cashew nuts in January 2025 to the United States market decreased by 32.5%, to the Chinese market decreased by 76.8%, while to the Netherlands market increased by 23.5%. Among the 15 largest export markets, cashew nut export value increased the most in the French market with an increase of 29.9% and decreased the most in the Chinese market with a decrease of 76.8%. Mr. Bach Khanh Nhut - Vice President of Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) - said that the reason for the decrease in cashew nut exports in the first two months of the year is because the market this year is a bit quiet. Buyers are waiting for the new season to start. In addition, there are many goods purchased at the previous time, and there are still stocks in foreign warehouses, so importers are limiting their purchases. Commenting on the market in the coming time, Mr. Bach Khanh Nhut said that from April - May onwards, the market will be bustling again, at that time, sellers will sign more contracts. In 2024, Vietnam exported 730,000 tons of processed cashew nuts, bringing in 4.37 billion USD, up 13.3% in volume and 20.2% in value compared to 2023. The average export price is about 6,003 USD/ton, up 6.1% compared to 2023. The Vietnam Cashew Association also forecasts that cashew nut exports will earn about 4.5 billion USD this year.
