<p>The director general of the Cotton and Cashew Council, Dr Adama Coulibaly, expressed the desire of his structure to facilitate access to cashew kernels of Côte d'Ivoire origin in American market, in partnership with the American firm, Ivory Cashew.</p> <p>Dr.</p> <p>Coulibaly spoke on Wednesday March 27, 2024, in Abidjan, during a working session with key players in foreign trade and industry on the theme, “new provisions of the law on the Food safety modernization act framework (FSMA) and experience of the cashew sector”.</p> <p>“Aware of the challenges posed by access to major consumer markets, the Cotton and Cashew Council has initiated a program to promote cashew kernels from Côte d'Ivoire on the American market. This initiative resulted in the implementation of a country certification program on the FSMA standard, the establishment of links and the strengthening of partnerships with key American institutions,” indicated its general director.</p> <p>According to him, Côte d'Ivoire, which wants to move from agricultural power to agro-industrial power, covets the important market of the United States, particularly in the field of cashew nuts.</p> <p>“In a few years, Ivory Coast, the world's leading producer of raw nuts, has become the third world processor and the second world supplier of cashew kernels. This development is illustrated by figures which give, in 2023, more than 265,000 tonnes of raw cashew nuts processed locally and 50,200 tonnes of cashew kernels produced and exported in the same year,” revealed the Director General of the Cotton Council. and cashew nut, Dr Adama Coulibaly.</p> <p>Furthermore, this working session with a high-level delegation from American institutions responsible for food safety in the USA, was an opportunity for all agro-industry players operating in Côte d'Ivoire, to Learn more about the American market and the health standards for its access.
