The director general of the cashew board Tanzania Mr. Fransis Alfred has said that the cashew board in collaboration with cooperatives and other stakeholders in this period towards other auctions will continue to manage quality from the primary associations to the main warehouse so that many farmers will benefit.

He said this in Newala district in Mtwara region during the opening of the first cashew sale auction where in the auction the highest price announced is Tsh 4120 and the lowest price is Tsh 4035 for one kilo of cashews where a total of 3857 kilos have been sold.

Mr. Francis has said that a total of 45 companies already had licenses where in the auction a total of 37 companies competed and cashew was bought by 10 companies, while 27 did not get it. He explained that this means that the demand for cashew nuts is very high in the world and these prices are due to the need for cashew nuts in the world market as many buyers in the last season could not buy a lot of cashew nuts due to the drop in production so Tanzania has had a big profit selling cashews while there is a need in the world.

Also in the auction opened by the governor of Mtwara Colonel Patrick Sawala thanked the President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for the provision of free input subsidies to farmers and while asking farmers and all other stakeholders to continue to manage it with their quality.

And for their part, some farmers have expressed their satisfaction with the cashew price for this season and thanked the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Suluhu Hassan for the inputs they got that enabled them in that production.
