To boost fruit exports from Maharashtra, three dedicated clusters are being established for bananas in Jalgaon, cashews in Chandgad (Kolhapur), and oranges in Nagpur, Amravati, and Wardha. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has approved the banana cluster, while approvals for the cashew and orange clusters are in the final stages. Maharashtra is India’s leading fruit-producing state, exporting bananas, oranges, sweet lime, pomegranates, cashews, mangoes, and grapes. To enhance exports, APEDA is facilitating the establishment of these specialized clusters. The authority has directed that work on all three clusters be completed swiftly. Additionally, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev to set up a regional office in Nagpur to further support fruit exports from Vidarbha. This proposal has received a positive response, and work on the office has begun. According to Dr. Parsharam Patil, a member of APEDA’s board of directors, improved export infrastructure will enable Maharashtra’s fruits to reach global markets more efficiently.
