Some cashewnut farmers in Newala district in Mtwara region have thanked the government led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for the best way to sell cashewnuts through the Tanzania Mercantile Exchange, a system that manages the digital auction with the aim of increasing market certainty, freedom to determine prices, certainty of payment as well as stimulating competition for farmers’ produce in the country

Mabruki Said who is one of the farmers says that this season the price is good and the sales are transparent and brings good interest to cashewnut farmers.

“I thank Madam President Samia and the Minister of Agriculture Hon. Hussein Bashe for the good management of the sales of cashews through the TMX system as we were selling before and now, it is obvious that this system aims to benefit the cashewnut farmer” Mabruki Said.

On his part, Awadhi Niposa, one of the farmers from the Newala district, promises to continue to cooperate on the quality of cashewnuts to his leaders of the main Cooperative Union TANECU so that prices can continue to be high because the good price of cashews goes hand in hand with its quality.

The farmers have said this during the fifth auction of the main Cooperative Union (TANECU) on November 8, 2024 where they have sold their cashews at a high price of Tsh 3410/= and a low price of Tsh. 3210/= for a total of 16,576 tons and 765 kg through the TMX system.
