According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, in May 2025, Vietnam exported 24,620 tons of cashew nuts to China, worth 156.39 million USD, up 3.7% in volume and 4.9% in value compared to April 2025, up 44.4% in volume and 67% in value compared to May 2024. In the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 65,790 tons of cashew nuts to China, worth 414.94 billion USD, up 21.7% in volume and 41.2% in value compared to the same period in 2024. The average export price of cashew nuts to China continues to grow strongly. In May 2025, the average export price of cashew nuts from Vietnam to China reached 6,350 USD/ton, up 1.2% compared to April 2025 and up 15.7% compared to May 2024. In the first 5 months of 2025, the average export price of cashew nuts from Vietnam to China reached 6,307 USD/ton, up 16% compared to the same period in 2024. With a surge in purchases in May 2025, China has emerged as Vietnam's largest cashew nut import market. In the first 4 months of 2025, Vietnam mainly exported W180, W320, and W240 cashew nuts to the Chinese market (accounting for 76.59% of the total cashew exports to this market), of which W180 cashew nut exports increased sharply, while W320 and W240 cashew nut exports decreased sharply compared to the same period in 2024. The Import and Export Department stated that the demand for cashew nuts in China is on the rise. Some international market analysis companies stated that China's population growth has contributed to the increase in demand for nuts, including cashew nuts. Chinese people, especially the younger generation, spend most of their day traveling or working, so the need for snacks is very high. The demand for cashew snacks and cashew-related products is growing rapidly because they are considered healthy and good for health. To maintain the growth momentum of cashew nut exports to the Chinese market, the Vietnamese cashew industry needs to continue to focus on improving product quality, stabilizing supply sources, diversifying deeply processed products, and paying attention to increasingly strict technical control and traceability requirements from China. 5 markets that buy the most cashew nuts from Vietnam According to the General Department of Customs, in May 2025, Vietnam exported 81,110 tons of cashew nuts, worth 550.83 million USD, up 10.5% in volume and 11.5% in value compared to April 2025, up 8.1% in volume and 33.3% in value compared to May 2024, the second consecutive month of increased cashew nut exports compared to the same period in 2024. In the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 276,760 tons of cashew nuts worth 1.88 billion USD, down 5.3% in volume but up 19.4% in value over the same period in 2024. Notably, the average export price of cashew nuts continues to increase. In May 2025, the average export price of Vietnam's cashew nuts reached 6,791 USD/ton, up 0.9% compared to April 2025 and up 23.3% compared to May 2024. In the first 5 months of 2025, the average export price of Vietnam's cashew nuts reached 6,809 USD/ton, up 26.1% compared to the same period in 2024. In May 2025, China, the US, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates and Germany were the five largest cashew nut export markets of Vietnam. Except for the US and the Netherlands, the amount of cashew nuts exported to the remaining markets increased compared to the same period in 2024. Cashew nut exports to the US continued to decline compared to the same period last year. In May 2025, cashew nut exports to the US market reached 17,360 tons, worth 117.6 million USD, down 9.6% in volume but up 14.7% in value compared to May 2024. In the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 59,750 tons of cashew nuts to the US, worth 406.88 million USD, down 21.7% in volume, but up 0.1% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
