  • Cashew: assessment of the distribution of bush bags to better prepare for the upcoming campaign

    Jul 28th, 2025

The Cashew Innovation and Technology Center (CITA) in Yamoussoukro hosted a review workshop on July 24 and 25, 2025, on the management of bush bag distribution for the 2025 cashew campaign. Organized by the Cotton, Cashew and Shea Council, this workshop brought together around a hundred stakeholders in the sector: technical structures of the Council, ANADER, OIA Cashew, regional delegations and representatives of interprofessional organizations. In his opening remarks, Mr. Franck Anderson Kouassi, Special Advisor to the Director General, reiterated on behalf of the Director General, Mr. Mamadou Berté, the importance of taking stock of this national operation in order to assess its effectiveness, identify the difficulties encountered and strengthen the system. He emphasized that bush bagging plays a key role in the traceability and promotion of raw cashew nuts. "It is our responsibility to take stock of this national operation, conducted with our key partners including ANADER and OIA Anacarde, in order to consolidate the traceability system, an essential lever for the marketing of raw cashew nuts," he said. The presentations provided an opportunity to take stock of the operation's implementation, assess logistical performance, and identify the main challenges encountered in the field. The discussions were enriched by feedback from regional delegates and field agents. For Mr. Ano Missa, zootechnician engineer and economist, Technical Director of ANADER, "ANADER is one of the three major players in bag distribution, and our involvement has led to a gradual improvement of the system. Today, almost all supervised producers receive their bags, thanks to the collaboration with the Council." The second day focused on analyzing the operating procedure and the digital tracking system (Kobotoolbox). The group work led to clear recommendations: strengthening logistics coordination, training in digital tools, ensuring data reliability, and improving traceability. The methodical contribution of the Marketing Department, the Bags Department, and the Council's partners and collaborating organizations should be noted, whose upstream efforts facilitated the discussions and the formulation of relevant recommendations. Following this review workshop, the main lines of the 2026 campaign will be structured around better anticipation of deliveries, reinforced preparatory missions and the development of team skills. Through this workshop, the Cotton, Cashew and Shea Council reaffirms its commitment to building a more efficient, equitable and sustainable system to serve a more efficient cashew industry.
