Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), yesterday received a business delegation from Kampu Nuts Agro Product and China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH) to discuss opportunities for strengthening Cambodia’s cashew processing industry. During the meeting, the delegation expressed interest in investing in cashew processing facilities, bringing in advanced machinery, and cooperating with Cambodian enterprises to boost production. “We know Cambodia produces large, high-quality cashew nuts, and we hope to develop processing directly in the country of origin to meet the high demand in China,” said the Kampu representative. Minister Vanndy welcomed the proposal, stressing the Royal Government’s vision to make the Cambodian cashew “the king of cashews” for the world. He noted that the Royal Government is currently prioritising processing and value-chain development. “We encourage the company to bring in modern techniques and technology while upholding safety and quality standards. MISTI stands ready to provide laboratory services, promote national standards, and collaborate with key stakeholders to enhance productivity in this sub-sector,” he said. He also encouraged the company to collaborate on farmer training, value-chain integration, and productivity improvement to contribute to Cambodia’s cashew sector development.
