Mtwara Regional Commissioner Colonel Patrick Sawala on Sept 27, 2025 concluded the Warehouse Receipts Operator Training for the 2025/2026 cashew season. The training, which began on September 24, 2025, involved various stakeholders, including students who are expected to become warehouse operators from various regions of Tanzania. The official guest at the closing ceremony of the training, Mtwara Regional Commissioner, Colonel Patrick Sawala, thanked the participants for their dedication and emphasized the importance of integrity, transparency and professionalism in managing the strategic system. Colonel Sawala noted that the Warehouse Receipt System is a catalyst for reform in the agricultural sector by enabling transparent trade in produce, adding value, reducing post-harvest losses and enhancing food security. "The Sixth Phase Government led by His Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has directed the use of formal systems for the sale of agricultural products through the certificate system and the Tanzania Commodity Exchange (TMX). Therefore, we expect you to continue the integrity and knowledge you have gained so that this system is beneficial to the farmer and the nation as a whole," said Colonel Sawala. For his part, the Director of WRRB, Mr. Asangye Bangu, said the training is part of the government's efforts to strengthen the documentation system by ensuring that all registered warehouses are run by skilled and honest operators.
