The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted an inspection at GaiCashew LLP, a cashew processing facility located in Parra, and discovered the use of expired raw materials including masalas, squash, flavours, seasonings, and ready-to-drink mixes. The expired stock, valued at approximately ₹4 lakh, was seized by FDA officials and destroyed with assistance from the local panchayat. The Food Business Operator (FBO) has been served an improvement notice mandating immediate corrective actions to comply with food safety norms. Authorities have cautioned that persistent violations could lead to stricter enforcement measures. The inspection is part of the FDA’s continuous monitoring efforts to uphold food safety standards and protect public health across Goa.
