The Cashew Development Corporation and CAPEX (Kerala State Cashew Workers Apex Industrial Cooperative Society) will jointly supply cashew nuts to be included in the Onam kits distributed by the state government this year. Around six lakh people are eligible to receive the kits. The Corporation will provide cashew packets for 4,47,516 beneficiaries while CAPEX will supply packets for the remaining 1.52 lakh. The Corporation will use 22.35 tonnes of cashew nuts and CAPEX will contribute 7.6 tonnes. Each Onam kit will contain a 50gm packet of cashew nuts. The packing process is scheduled to begin by the middle of this month. The packing will be carried out under the supervision of Cashew Development Corporation Chairman S Jayamohan and CAPEX Chairman M Sivashankara Pillai, along with the managing directors of both organisations, K Sunil John and Santosh Kumar.
