On Friday, May 30, 2025, at the premises of the Cotton and Cashew Council in Abidjan-Plateau, a major partnership agreement was signed between the Cotton and Cashew Council and the Vietnamese company "Cashew Machines Vietnam Company Limited" (CMV), which specializes in the design and manufacture of cashew nut processing machines. This partnership marks a decisive step in the local processing strategy advocated by the Ivorian government, aimed at making Côte d'Ivoire a major industrial hub in the cashew sector. In 2024, Côte d'Ivoire produced approximately 960,000 tonnes of raw cashew nuts, 36% of which was processed locally. More than 600,000 tonnes were exported in their raw form. The national objective is to achieve a processing rate of 50% by 2030. Indeed, this agreement provides for the establishment in Ivory Coast of an assembly center for cutting-edge industrial equipment and a storage center for critical spare parts, ensuring the operational continuity of the processing units and considerably reducing costs linked to technical interruptions. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Mamadou Berté, Director General of the Cotton and Cashew Council, welcomed a strategic partnership that brings to fruition a long-held vision. “It was a dream come true for the Council to bring this partnership to fruition. Today, that dream is becoming a reality. This collaboration with CMV is a major step forward in our quest to modernize local processing. It's no longer enough to process; we need to process better, with suitable, sustainable, and accessible equipment. This partnership will not only bridge our technical gap, but also ensure the availability of essential parts for our factories. CMV is now establishing itself in Côte d'Ivoire, and this is excellent news for the entire industry.” Backed by more than ten years of expertise and a 12,000 m² industrial site *in Vietnam* equipped with cutting-edge technologies, CMV has established itself as a key player in the global cashew nut industry. During the signing of the agreement, the CMV representative expressed with conviction the importance of this partnership for their company, but also for the African continent. “For over five years, we have been supporting Ivorian manufacturers. Today, by signing this agreement, we are taking an important step forward. We are proud to bring our technology, our know-how, and our commitment to Côte d’Ivoire. This cooperation is not just a trade agreement; it embodies a shared desire to build a sustainable, competitive, and forward-looking industry. We firmly believe in Ivorian potential and are ready to fully support it.” By facilitating the local establishment of CMV, the Cotton and Cashew Council intends to address several government priorities: accelerating local processing, creating skilled jobs for young people, improving national value added, and offering producers better value for their production. The training of Ivorian staff, included in CMV's commitments, also strengthens the project's impact on local skills development. This agreement, concluded for a renewable period of five years, promises to be a catalyst for opportunities for the entire cashew industry, from farmers to processors. A strategic, balanced, and ambitious partnership, serving Ivorian industrialization. “For sustainable development of the cotton, cashew and shea sectors”. Year
