  • Cashew nuts: farm gate price set at 425F/kg in Togo

    Mar 14th, 2025

This year 2025, cashew nut producers in Togo will sell their products at a price of 425 CFA francs compared to 325 CFA francs , an increase of more than 30% compared to previous campaigns. This price was agreed by the interprofessional organization of the cashew sector on March 13, 2025, the day after the National Cashew Day of Togo (JNAT) held in Kara. It was in Kara that the cashew nut marketing campaign was launched by the Minister Delegate for Trade, Crafts and Local Consumption, Professor HOUNAKE Kossivi. Official launch in Kara of the 9th cashew nut marketing campaign ©agridigitale.tg Minister HOUNAKE welcomed the choice of the campaign theme which, according to him, "implies the urgent need to structure this sector more and sustainably, in order to give it greater resilience in the face of market fluctuations and regional and global challenges." With a view to better development of the current and future campaigns, cashew producers, buyers and processors have agreed on several agreements covering 07 points, including the quantity of cashew nut production set at 20 tonnes before obtaining clearance for transporting nuts to Lomé, or sanctions in the event of fraud in marketing. These sanctions range from fines to withdrawal of accreditation. "In the sub-region and even in the world, we all have a common market: the Indian and Vietnamese markets, and so if our producers do not strengthen their capacities, their products will be downgraded, because everyone is now moving towards quality and excellence. Today, we must move towards the professionalization of our activities and contractualization," declared Mawuko Komlan GOZAN, president of the Interprofessional Council of the Cashew Industry of Togo (CIFAT). He specified that for this 2025 campaign, the price per kilo of cashew nuts set at 425 CFA francs remains the minimum farm gate price, the price below which producers should not be paid for the nuts. Safeguards are therefore put in place to respect market prices.
