A group of 30 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from Kampong Thom province will receive support to develop their products and business models to promote more local products. Angkor Social Innovation Park (ASIP), a Siem Reap-based social enterprise, is hosting a second group of business owners to undergo training and mentorship through the InnoLab Kampong Thom at the province’s Polytechnic Institute of Kampong Thom. partner content banner During the incubator’s launch, Kampong Thom Deputy Governor Chea Vanchan said that the programme should help local businesses develop the skills they need to develop the provinces’ agro-industries to their full potential, according to a press release from the event. “Kampong Thom has the potential to become Cambodia's hub for value-added cashew products. To realize that vision, every SME must embrace innovation,” he said in a press release. The 30 participants were from the agro-industry, manufacturing/handicrafts, and tourism sectors, and will receive training and mentoring intended to help them develop new products or business models. Ky Sokkim, CEO of Skills Development Fund, a trust under the Ministry of Economy and Finance to support workforce development, said SDF would continue linking participating businesses to government support after the program ends, describing InnoLab as long-term assistance rather than a standalone event. InnoLab Kampong Thom is delivered in partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of Kampong Thom, CONSA Tech, i-Shop, Khmer Times, the Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association, Pinex Pro, Dojology Group, NAVA Media, and Kiripost, according to the press release.
