Cashew nuts are generally considered a food for the rich. The reason is that the price of cashew nuts ranges from Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 per kg. Cashew nuts are graded and sold based on quality. However, in a village, this expensive cashew nut can be found for just Rs 50 per kg. This village is known as the city of cashews. In the village of Nala or Nala in Jantara district of Jharkhand, cashews are sold on the roadside. Located just four kilometers from the district headquarters, this village offers you good quality cashews at very low prices. The people of this village sell cashew nuts on the roadside like vegetables. People from Jamtara district come to Nala village just to buy cashew nuts. Cashew nuts are sold at low prices like vegetables. Cashew nuts are grown in more than 50 acres of this village. Farmers, unable to take their produce to distant areas, bring cashew nuts to the local market. They buy them from the people here at a low price and sell them at ten times the price. Before 2010, the people here did not know what crop to grow. Forest department officials and agricultural experts said that the climate and soil here are suitable for cashew. Then they provided training to the farmers here in cashew horticulture. Since then, the farmers here have been involved in cashew horticulture. Cashew is grown in large quantities and is sold on the roadside at a quarter of the original price. 5 In 2010, IAS Kripanand was the Deputy Commissioner of Jantara district. Knowing that the soil and climatic conditions in Nala village were suitable for cashew cultivation, he consulted agricultural scientists and encouraged the cultivation of cashew. However, due to the lack of a cashew processing unit, farmers are forced to sell at a low price. If there is a processing unit, farmers will have the opportunity to export from here. This will increase local employment.
