A Cambodian cashew processor in Stung Treng province has strengthened its presence in the UK market through continued exports, highlighting growing opportunities for Cambodia’s cashew sector to expand into international markets. Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and head of the Secretariat of the Export Promotion Task Force, Someth Somnea, led a delegation to HCST Investment Co Ltd in Stung Treng on Thursday to mark the company’s latest export shipment of cashew nuts to the UK. The shipment demonstrates the company’s ability to maintain product quality in line with international standards while meeting the requirements of overseas buyers, according to the Ministry of Commerce. The company has also maintained regular exports and plans to expand its operations and explore additional overseas markets, the ministry said. The Export Promotion Task Force is working to strengthen market linkages for Cambodian products and identify new export opportunities, particularly in European and ASEAN markets. The ministry said the continued export performance of Cambodian cashew processors could help expand the sector’s international market reach while supporting greater exports of processed and value-added cashew products. Increasing domestic processing is also considered important for Cambodia’s cashew value chain, as it can create greater value from locally produced raw materials and strengthen the country’s position in international markets. The latest shipment to the UK therefore highlights not only the growth of an individual exporter but also the potential for Cambodia’s cashew industry to move further into value-added processing and diversify its export destinations.
