Kampong Thom Province is solidifying its position as a significant player in the cashew industry, currently boasting 12 processing factories and workshops. This includes three dedicated processing facilities and nine workshops that collectively have the capacity to store up to 18,195 tons of cashews annually. During a meeting on April 20, 2025, led by His Excellency Nguon Reasy, the Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom, key stakeholders discussed strategies to boost the province’s cashew crop yield. His Excellency highlighted the provincial administration’s commitment to improving farmers’ skills in crop management and promoting the use of high-quality seeds to enhance productivity. In alignment with these efforts, plans are underway to strengthen market connections between farmers, agricultural communities, collectors, and processing and export companies. Prime Minister Hun Sen recently endorsed the establishment of a cashew industrial park in Kampong Thom during the closing ceremony of the 2024 work summary conference and the planning session for 2025 at the Ministry of Land Management.
