<p></p><p>The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Saturday announced that a research centre for cashew and coconut crops would be set up in Srikakulam district and 40 acres in Kanchili has already been allocated.Making it clear that government could not announce support price for cashew, the Chief Minister promised that purchasing centres will soon be set up to procure cashew apart from providing irrigation facilities. It is learnt that the Horticulture University is likely to run the research centre on cashew.</p> <p>Interacting with cashew farmers at Ramakrishna-puram in Palasa mandal, Mr Kiran said that investigation is on to find out possibilities for modernisation of Left Main Canal of Vamsadhara in order to provide irrigation facilities for Uddanam region by spending Rs.100 crore.After inspecting off-shore reservoir of Mahendra-tanaya river in Patapanam mandal, he said that the government has decided to move ahead with inter-state water project Vamsadhara by promising compensation to affected families in Odisha. </p><p> </p><br><p></p>
