During a working meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on December 18, 2023, in Tokyo, Japan, Imamura Masahiro, Chairman of the Japan-Cambodia Friendship Parliamentary Association, stated that Japanese companies intended to increase imports of cashew nuts and pepper products from Cambodia. During the meeting, Imamura informed the premier about the activities of the Parliamentary Alliance, which has been working closely with the Cambodian Embassy in Japan to increase Japan-Cambodia cooperation more closely, especially in some priority areas, including agriculture, health, energy, demining, and unexploded ordnance. Regarding agricultural products, the Parliamentary Alliance stressed that Japanese companies intend to increase the import of more cashew nuts and pepper products from Cambodia. In response, Premier Hun Manet expressed his pleasure to meet with Imamura Masahiro. He said that 2023 is the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties and a special year in which Cambodia-Japan bilateral relations have been upgraded to a “comprehensive strategic partnership,†which is the best level of relations between the two countries, and also reminded of Japan’s support in the process of building and socio-economic development in Cambodia since the search for peace. In this regard, the premier also praised the strong friendship and progress of cooperation in all fields between Cambodia and Japan, including legislative, executive, business, and business, as well as between the people and the people. He emphasised that the Royal Government’s policy towards Japan was the same as in the previous mandate, that is, to maintain the sustainability and consistency of the existing relations, as well as to continue to cultivate and develop this excellent and stronger relationship.
