The Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Production, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, called on stakeholders in the cashew sector to mobilize to succeed in the challenge of processing of the product at the opening of the 5th edition of the National Days of Cashew Exporters of Côte d'Ivoire (JNEC-CI), Wednesday February 14, 2024 in Abidjan. “We cannot meet the challenges of the 21st century with the economic arrangements of the 20th century. The time of the purely agricultural economy is over. Industrialization is essential, the transition to transformation with men and women gathered here and now cannot wait any longer,†invited Mr. Adjoumani who represented the Prime Minister. He specified that it is the clearly stated will of the President of the Republic Alassane Ouattara who is working tirelessly to achieve these objectives. These days which take place around the theme: “sustainability of the cashew sector, guarantee of competitiveness and growth of the Ivorian economy†will allow national and international stakeholders to exchange ideas, methods and strategies, with a view to meet the challenges of the sector and improve the quality of cashew nuts. To meet the challenges in the cashew sector, Mr. Adjoumani urged all participants to be strongly involved in the conduct of the work of this symposium which will end Friday February 16, 2024 to achieve transformation objectives set by the government . The Commissioner General of JNEC-CI, N'Guettia Assouman, also president of the Association of Cashew Exporters of Côte d'Ivoire (AEC-CI), specified that during these three days, international and national experts, in a dynamic of benchmarking and sharing experience with technical and financial partners, will debate around several different themes. The 5th edition of the National Days of Cashew Exporters of Côte d'Ivoire (JNEC-CI) will be held from Wednesday February 14 to 16, 2024 in Abidjan. These include, among other things, the competitiveness of Ivorian exporting companies on the international market, the contribution of actors in the value chain to improving the quality of nuts for better marketing, development policies between actors in the sector and African public authorities for better sub-regional synergy, the processing industry facing the challenges of sustainability, the performance of the cashew sector through an adapted financing system. Mr. N'Guettia reaffirmed the commitment of Ivory Coast's cashew exporters to support the development and growth of the industry, while ensuring that the benefits of this important economic activity are shared equitably and benefit all Ivorians. Ivory Coast is the world's leading producer of cashew nuts with more than 1.2 million tonnes, the world's leading exporter of cashew nuts and the world's 3rd largest cashew processor.
