  • Cote d'Ivoire-AIP/ Actors in the Ouangolodougou cashew sector raised awareness to fight against the leakage of the product to neighboring countries 02/25/2024

    Feb 25th, 2024

The national coordinator of the cotton, cashew mango and forestry sectors of the National Agency for Rural Development Support (ANADER), Soro Klotioloma, called, Friday February 23, 2024, the actors of the cashew sector of the department of Ouangolodougou to fight against the leakage of the product to neighboring countries. “The cashew nut is for the Ivory Coast. All the fields that are here are for Ivory Coast. So the product that comes out there is for the government. It must be sold in Ivory Coast. Whether producers or buyers, the product from Côte d'Ivoire is for Cote d'Ivoire,” said Mr. Soro. He specified that it is with the money from the sale of these agricultural products that the State meets all the expenses of the country in order to contribute to the well-being of its populations, urging everyone to avoid sell their agricultural products to neighboring countries. “Before, it was said that Houphouët took coffee and cocoa to develop the Ivory Coast. And now cashew has been added, aren't we going to be developed? But if you go and sell outside, he earns the money. He will develop his country. He is going to have tar put on his house, he is going to have a hospital at his house, he is going to have a college at his house, he is going to have a gendarmerie at his house and then at his house it will be developed as at your house,” remarked Mr. Soro Klotcholoma, indicating that everything violator of this provision will be subject to the rigor of the law and will be held accountable for their actions. The 2024 cashew season began with 275 FCFA per kilogram of cashew nuts at the farm gate.
