    May 9th, 2023

A total of 100 tons of cashew nuts have been purchased from producers in the department of Séguéla to allow them to benefit from the farm gate price set by the government, during a sale group which took place on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the so-called Place de la République, located in the Residential district, at the initiative of the Cotton and Cashew Council (CCA). “The government has taken full measure of the situation, of the difficulties encountered by the sector during this campaign. And it is in the process of dealing with these difficulties that this operation is taking place,” said the prefect of the Worodougou region, prefect of the department of Séguéla, Diarrassouba Karim, while calling on the producers “to calm and above all to trust the State by not selling off their productions'' because, he promises, all stocks will be evacuated. This grouped sale falls within the framework of the regulation operation initiated following the poor sale of cashew nuts in certain production areas in order to proceed with the removal of production which has accumulated over the months and to allow producers to sell their products at a price of 315 CFA francs per kilogram, as approved by the government. In the long term, this one, which is coupled with another so-called "priming stock operation", which aims, for the State, through a loan repayable over one year, to provide assistance to the various processing units so that they can constitute stocks. In total, 1,800 tons will be purchased from the regional council delegation in Séguéla, in this case 600 tons for buffer stock and 1,200 tons for seed stock. For the regional delegate of the said Council, Coulibaly Yacouba Nahoua, this grouped sale will make it possible to raise the purchase price to the producers. “We were very worried, (…) but today we are smiling because the government has decided to come to our aid through this group sale. We say thank you very much to him,” said one of the producers, Bakayoko Gaoussou, also president of the municipal youth. This one-off grouped sale, which should enable 120 tons of cashew to be removed in the end, was carried out by the Agricultural Cooperative of United Producers of Worodougou, CAPUWO, and the Cooperative of Agricultural Producers of Worodougou, COOPAWORO, which, to do this, have signed a contract with the Cashew Cotton Board.
