About thirty cashew nut producers from Benin and ten cooperatives from Côte d'Ivoire are in conclave at the Royal Hotel in Yamoussoukro, to exchange their experiences on group sales. During this workshop, which began on Tuesday April 11 and ended on April 18, 2023, participants will have to propose a group sales model that can meet the needs and current context of actors in the cashew sector in Côte d'Ivoire, inspired by the mechanism of the National Federation of Cashew Producers of Benin (Fenapab). It should be noted that in this area, Benin has a much more elaborate mechanism than Côte d'Ivoire. According to Atta Sahadatou, President of Fenapab, “it is a question of comparing experiences in order to see what each country can copy from the other to improve its mechanismâ€. She further explained that grouped selling is an operation which consists in bringing together in a specific place, the products belonging to the members of a cooperative and/or a village, with a view to their wholesale marketing ( in common), through business ties. It is a marketing mechanism that has several advantages for all players. It contributes to the improvement of income and links between the actors of the system. It should be noted that this workshop is part of the Pro-Cashew project initiated by the United States of America in five countries of the sub-region (Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire) . The objective is to stimulate the competitiveness of West African producers, through the quantitative and qualitative improvement of production and support for the implementation of regional policies and regulations favorable to trade and investment. in the cashew industry. It should be noted that Pro-Cashew's participation in the process of updating the grouped sales mechanism in Benin in April 2022 has enabled stakeholders to learn several lessons about this practice. It is on the strength of this success that this American international NGO with the support of the Cotton and Cashew Council (Cca) has undertaken to initiate a pilot phase of grouped sales in Côte d'Ivoire. This, taking into account the lessons learned in Benin. Note that field visits to cooperatives are scheduled from April 14 to 18, 2023.
