In Côte d'Ivoire, the Warehouse Receipt System Regulatory Body (ORSRE) announces that the 2023 cashew marketing campaign will start at the end of this month of April. It is placed under the leadership of the Ministry of Commerce, players in the cashew sector and local authorities. Remember that the cashew nut trade provides significant income to the thousands of harvesters in the south of the country. According to ORSRE, in 2021, cashew exports from the regions of Kolda, Sédhiou and Ziguinchor (south) amounted to 82,000 tonnes. In 2022, cashew nut exports from the three regions were 84,500 tons. However, the sector is faced with the lack of processing equipment. However, the sector generates significant income-generating activities for young people and women. Hence the call on the government to further support the Warehouse Receipt Regulator and facilitate the [transformation], which can generate employment. At the same time, the public authorities are also called upon to protect the fields against animals.
