Cashew buyers in the district have reduced the cashew seed rate (Cashew Seed Rate) below the cost of production. Due to this, the cashew planter is in financial crisis. Alleging that the cashew buyers are arbitrarily lowering the prices, the cashew growers have warned to launch an agitation against the policy of the buyers. The price of cashew nuts in the district was Rs. 130 per kg. In the last two weeks, the rate has come down to Rs 110 per kg. A cashew grower incurs a production cost of Rs 122 per kg. Cashew seeds are currently being purchased at Rs. 110 without any consideration from traders and manufacturers. Traders and manufacturers are arbitrarily fixing the price of cashew nuts and against this policy, cashew growers have now warned to launch an agitation. Cashew farmers of Vaibhavwadi taluk Vilas Desai, Pradeep Jaitapkar, Uday Jaitapkar, Mahesh Ravrane, Ujjwal Narkar and various farmers met Tehsildar Prasannajit Chavan. He presented the grievances of the cashew growers before them and gave a statement to them. Due to climate change and increased incidence of pests, increased labor rates, increased cost of fertilizers, damage from wild animals, cashew nut production is currently unaffordable for farmers. However, many farmers are producing cashew nuts . But in the last few days, the prices of cashew nuts have been falling continuously. Traders seem to be arbitrarily reducing the price of cashew nuts. Therefore, the farmers have demanded that the government should give guaranteed price for cashew nuts or support price like Goa government. Meanwhile, no cashew growers should under any circumstances sell cashew seeds below the rate of Rs. 150 per kg. Apart from this, cashew producers have also decided to stop the purchase of cashew nuts in Vaibhavwadi weekly market.
