  • GDIZ in Benin: President Bazoum impressed by the development of the site 03/15/2023

    Mar 15th, 2023

“We were very honored to receive today in the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone the President of the Republic of Niger, His Excellency Mohamed Bazoum,” he declared. For him, this denotes the fact that Benin is today a reference in Africa and in the world and that "we have been able to show that in a short time, how we can transform the economy of a country". On the second day of his friendship and working visit to Benin, President Mohamed Bazoun , accompanied by a strong delegation from the Beninese government made up of ministers Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, Romuald Wadagni, Aurélien Agbénonci and Shadiya Assouman went early on the morning of this Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ). The Nigerien Head of State and his delegation visited the cashew nut processing unit and the clothing factory. At the end of the visit, the Director General of the Company for Investment and Promotion of Industry (SIPI-Benin) Létondji Behetonreporting on the visit to media professionals, said he was happy to have received the Nigerien delegation. " We were very honored to receive today in the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone the President of the Republic of Niger, His Excellency Mohamed Bazoum," he said. For him, this denotes the fact that Benin is today a reference in Africa and in the world and that "we have been able to show that in a short time, how we can transform the economy of a country". He recalled that a few years ago the country of President Patrice Talon sold its raw materials for export in a raw way but today, this situation has changed with a new dynamic which is in progress in particular, this dynamic of industrialization of our country. This industrialization, according to him, is manifested in this special economic zone that the Nigerien president visited. The Director General of Sipi-Benin suggested that this allowed the Head of State of Niger to see a certain number of industries already installed and which are already operational, in particular the cashew nut processing unit, a garment making unit and many other facilities. “I think he left while being satisfied and he promised that there will be cooperation between the Glo-Djigbé economic zone and Benin in general so that we can see how we can develop a similar project in Niger. he blurted out. As for the Director General of the Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Exports (APIEX) Laurent Gangbès, he is delighted to see the industrialization process underway in Benin arousing the interest of the countries of the sub-region. For him, this area has seen a number of high-level political leaders from many countries in the sub-region. According to him, today, the proof is made that “we can completely change the economic paradigm of our country” and President Mohamed Bazoum is the first Head of State to visit the GDIZ. Laurent Gangbès argued that this visit by the Head of State of Niger to the special economic zone “validates all the steps taken by the President of the Republic Patrice Talon to structurally transform our economy”. This is why he says that "we are in the process of moving from an economy of trade to an economy of development, transformation and industrialization".
