The world's largest producer and second processor of cashew nuts, Côte d'Ivoire must move to a higher level in terms of production for the supply of companies. That is to say, it must produce in quality more than one million tons of cashew nuts per year. To achieve this, the Cashew Project in West Africa (Proc-Cashew) Usda, a donation from the US government through its Department of Agriculture, has decided to provide support to the Ivorian state . Hence the capacity building of agents of financial institutions for financing the production and marketing of raw cashew nuts. Present on March 16 and 17, 2023, at the Rose Blanche hotel in Cocody, around thirty agents from six microfinance structures and decentralized structures were trained on several topics. Among others, Côte d'Ivoire in the global cashew market; the cashew nut production system; processing and marketing systems; agricultural credit risks and mitigating factors: the case of the cashew sector... According to Jean-François Guay, general manager of the United States department of agriculture (Usda) West Africa Pro-Cashew project, this training comes to solve difficulties of growers, cashew processing factories and financial structures. Listening to him, the cross-cutting issue of actors' access to financing negatively impacts all the links in the cashew value chain. For him, this new sector in Côte d'Ivoire with its fifteen units needs to be supervised. This is why the project he leads has created a direct market link with microfinance, decentralized structures and producers to allow marketing financing and the improvement of plantations. Aware that the lack of knowledge in the sector can be an obstacle for a financial structure, Arsène Koffi, program manager at the Professional Association of Decentralized Financial System of Côte d'Ivoire (Apsfd-CI), indicates that this training comes to named point. It will allow financial institutions to fully understand the functioning of this sector, the links that exist between the different players and help to take precautions to offer appropriate financial products. Representing the Cotton and Cashew Council, the Honorable Logozié Namongo Coulibaly, Technical Advisor, did not fail to convey the satisfaction of his structure for the holding of the said workshop which aims to impregnate the actors of finance in Côte d ivory from the cashew sector. Note that the Proc-Cashew Usda project has set implementation objectives to improve the cashew nut sector throughout the value chain in five West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Nigeria).
