The opening of the cashew nut marketing campaign is set for March 16, 2023 in Natitingou and its closing on October 31, 2023, announced the government in the Council of Ministers this Wednesday, March 15, 2023. The government invites "the various actors to organize themselves in order to guarantee its success, in the best interests of all". The Council recalls that "unless expressly authorized, the export of cashew nuts by land is prohibited". The assessment of the past campaign reveals that the quantity of raw cashew nuts produced amounts to 215,809 tons, of which 159,898 were exported. Similarly, out of an installed processing capacity of 60,800 tonnes outside the Glo-Djigbé Special Economic Zone, ten out of the fourteen factories operated and processed 17,700 tonnes. The quantity of white almonds intended for export is 1187 tons. For this campaign, the needs expressed by local processors amount to 119,400 tonnes of raw nuts. They expressed the wish to have an exclusive period at the start of the campaign to stock up on raw nuts.
