  • Cooperation: Côte d'Ivoire and Vietnam aim to develop business partnerships between the private sectors of the two countries 08/08/2022

    Aug 8th, 2022

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d'Ivoire will organize a multi-sector economic and trade mission to Vietnam in the second half of September 2022. This mission, which is part of the increase in trade between the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the Republic of Vietnam, aims to develop business partnerships between the private sectors of the two countries. It is in this vein that a Country Day dedicated to Vietnam was held by videoconference and face-to-face this Thursday, August 04, 2022 at the institution's headquarters in Abidjan-Plateau. Germain Yao, Director of Studies and Economic Information of the CCI-CI, said during the exchanges that this information session aims to increase trade between the two countries. “For the moment, there are two flagship products which are rice, which we import in large quantities in the order of more than one million tons per year, and cashew nuts, which we export to Vietnam,” a- he explained. According to him, with regard to the nature of the exchanges, many other commercial actions can be carried out especially since the government's policy is certainly to increase commercial exchanges with external partners, but above all to allow their installation with a view to to help with local processing. Long before, the Vietnamese Cashew Nut Association (VINACAS), which intervened by videoconference on the theme "The potential of cashew nut production and commercial cooperation between Vietnam - Côte d'Ivoire Companies", welcomed the efforts made by Côte d'Ivoire, which makes it the leading producer and exporter of cashew. Recalling the rank of world leader in the production and export of raw cashew with 805,748,000 tonnes exported, these businessmen expressed their desire to support Côte d'Ivoire in achieving her goals. Thus, Vietnam called for food security in Côte d'Ivoire, the promotion of Vietnamese rice and said it was in favor of increasing trade between the two countries. As a reminder, in 2015, Vietnam's trade with Côte d'Ivoire amounted to around 500 million dollars. In 2021, they reached 1 billion CFA francs.
