    The Director General of the Cotton and Cashew Council, Dr. Adama Coulibaly, said on Friday July 8, 2022 in Toumodi, that the vision of this body for the future of the cashew sector consists to resolutely focus on transformation. According to an information note sent to the AIP, he said so on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the cashew processing plant, Dorado Ivory, the Ivorian subsidiary of the Royal Nuts PTE Ltd group based in Singapore. . "The main challenge in the cashew sector lies in processing in order to create greater local added value and enable Côte d'Ivoire to eventually move from a country exporting raw cashew nuts to an exporting country of almonds, with a forecast transformation rate of 50% by 2025, against 20% forecast at the end of the 2022 campaign”, indicated the director general of the Cotton and Cashew Council. For Dr. Adama Coulibaly, beyond improving the transformation rate to 50% by 2025, another major challenge for the sector remains access to the international market for quality almonds from the Côte d' Ivory. “At this level, the Cotton and Cashew Council has initiated, with the support of the American firm Ivory Cashew, an international certification program for all local industrial units in order to facilitate direct access to quality almonds. of Côte d'Ivoire origin to the international market," he added. Thanks to the government's strategic actions, Côte d'Ivoire still maintains its position as the world's leading producer and exporter of raw cashew nuts (NBC) since 2015, with 968,700 tonnes of raw cashew nuts produced at the end of the 2021 campaign. The country ranks as the world's third largest exporter of cashew kernels after India and Vietnam, with 137,000 tonnes.
