Côte d'Ivoire has launched vast projects to create high-impact industrial zones to support the acceleration of the structural transformation of the economy through industrialization. After those of Yopougon, Vridi and Koumassi (whose rehabilitation works have been launched), Abidjan, the Ivorian economic capital is in the process of creating a new industrial zone. The project for the new industrial zone of Akoupé-Zeudji, work on which is in progress, will be an integrated economic zone. Covering an area of 940 hectares, it includes industrial spaces, a logistics platform, administrative and socio-economic facilities, on-call accommodation, training centers, green spaces and an ecological belt. This site is one of the three new industrial zones (Akoupé-Zeudji, San Pedro and Ferkessédougou) for which the Ivorian government signed, on August 25, 2020 in Abidjan, with the Arise Ivoire group, a development agreement for an investment estimated at 1000 billion FCFA. These industrial zones will be regional economic development hubs designed in the form of a cluster to attract companies processing semi-finished products, by offering them competitive conditions at the international level, access to inputs, raw materials and quality infrastructure. For the region of San Pedro (South-West) which is the second economic center of the country, the government has adopted a decree declaring the public utility of the plot of land with an area of 540 hectares 05 ares 20 centiares, dedicated to industrial activity, in the municipality of San Pedro. The realization of a new industrial zone in the city of San Pedro, aims to support the industrial development of this port city, object of increasing demands for industrial land. The new Kablaké industrial zone extends over approximately 510 hectares near the Autonomous Port of San Pedro. The development of this site aims to make up for the lack of industrial land. According to the regional director of Trade and Industry, Sylvanus N'guessan, the new zone raises a lot of hope after the saturation of the first zones. He therefore urges industrialists to come and settle in the region, which has many potentialities. In Ferkessédougou in the north where a dry port is planned, the industrial sector will also experience a new dynamism with the development of the industrial zone. This industrial development project aims to increase the rate of transformation of raw materials by promoting the manufacturing industry. It provides for the creation of 100,000 jobs by 2025, a contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 5,500 billion FCFA and the creation of 350,000 jobs by 2030. In addition to these three major hubs, other cities are also preparing to welcome industrialists. We can mention, among others, Bonoua, Yamoussoukro, Bondoukou, Séguela, Bouaké… In Bouaké, the capital of the Gbêkê region, which has been the seat of large industrial units, the creation of a new industrial zone will encourage the installation of economic operators who want to invest in the city and contribute to its development. On January 15, 2022, Prime Minister Patrick Achi visited the future industrial zone there. On the site, an important place will be given to the processing of cashew nuts. Concerning this city, the Council of Ministers adopted on December 22, 2021 a decree declaring of public utility a plot of urban land with an area of 150 hectares forming a reserve allocated to industrial activity. These various projects will provide Côte d'Ivoire with modern industrial zones that meet international standards for national and international investors. The objective is to build the first pillar of the National Development Plan 2021-2025. This pillar is dedicated to accelerating the structural transformation of the economy through industrialization and cluster development. Seven industrial clusters have been identified. They relate to agro-industry, chemicals and plastics, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, textiles, packaging and refill and automotive parts. As a reminder, in order to capture funding from institutional and private partners, the Government is organizing, under the chairmanship of the Head of State, Alassane Ouattara, a Consultative Group whose objective is to mobilize 9,335.6 billion FCFA, on June 15, 2022, at the Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire.
