Cashew nut producers in the department of Sakassou were made aware of the group sale of their production, during a meeting held on Friday May 20, 2022 at the cultural center at the initiative of the deputy central prefect, Mathurin Yao Konan. This grouped sale will consist for them of first gathering their different harvests on a single site and secondly of bringing an approved buyer there. The latter may, after purchase, issue receipts and also communicate the tonnages of production. According to the local representative of the Cotton/Cashew Council, Adou Kouakou, who led this awareness session, this strategy will offer many advantages to producers in Sakassou. It will enable them, in particular, to put an end to the flight of cashew nut production to other horizons, apply the purchase price to producers set at 305 CFA francs and facilitate the transport of crops. The department of Sakassou does not register to date any cooperative of cashew nut producers. This void, which remains to be filled, gives free rein to trackers and other crooked buyers to lay down the law in this sector, we deplore.
