The Cotonou Convention Center hosted on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the launch of the third edition of Benin Cashew Day. Placed under the theme: "Strategic partnerships for an efficient cashew sector in Africa", these meetings in which some fifteen African countries take part were initiated by the National Council of Cashew Exporters in Benin (Conec) in collaboration with the Interprofession of the Cashew Sector. This work, which will take place from February 22 to 24, will allow us to reflect on ways and means to promote African cashew. Clearly, it will be a question for three days of carrying out strategic reflections to forge institutional partnerships for the influence of the cashew sector in Africa. In his speech at the desk, Péniel Fanou, president of the National Council of Cashew Exporters in Benin, thanked the participants for their interest in this event. To this end, he reiterated the ambition of the council of which he is the president to contribute to the influence of the cashew sector in Benin and in Africa. Abundant in the same direction as his predecessor, Herman Abiona, president of the Interprofession of the Anacarde Sector recognized and congratulated the president Patrice Talon for his vision and for having included the promotion of Cashew as a priority in his action program. Same story with the president of the African Cashew Alliance, Abitola Fachirou who for his part insisted on the need for a synergy of actions for an efficient cashew sector in Africa. In this sense, Alimatou Shadiya ASSOUMAN, Minister of Industry and Trade, said that the holding of these meetings reflects the interest in the development of the cashew sector. She did not fail to salute the commitment of all African governments who are campaigning for the development of cashew in Africa. Moreover, Laurent Gangbes, Director General of the Agency for the Promotion of Imports and Exports (APIEX) recalled that the government's objective is to support the players in the sector and to opt for the transformation of more 50% of the amount of cashew produced. Officially launching the work, Gaston Dossouhoui, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, invited the participants for discussions to come out with appropriate resolutions for the influence of Cashew in Africa. Several communications furnished these foundations. These include research and e-agriculture, institutional partnerships, improving the cashew processing environment in Africa, and the marketing of cashew and its derivatives.
