    Feb 10th, 2022

The Worodougou region recorded a production of 79,204 tons of cashew nuts in 2021, according to production director at the Cotton and Cashew Council, Dr Mariam Gniré Ouattara. "The Worodougou region recorded a production of 79,204 tons of cashew nuts in 2021," said Dr. Ouattara at the end of an awareness workshop for actors in the cashew sector, adding that the Haut Sassandra region also recorded a production of 121,804 tons of cashew nuts. Thus, the cumulative production of the regions of Worodougou and Haut Sassandra totals 201,008 tons of cashew nuts and represents 20% of the national production marketed. The reform of the cashew sector adopted in 2013 by the government has given a boost to the development of this sector, making Côte d'Ivoire the world's leading producer of cashew nuts from 2015 with a production that has increased from 500 000 in 2013 to 702,510 tons. This production reached 968,676 in 2021, representing almost a quarter of the world's cashew production.
