The Director of Information Systems of the Cashew Cotton Council (CCA), Gue Simplice, revealed the performance achieved by actors in the cashew sector in Côte d'Ivoire at the international level, with, as a bonus, a significant increase and respectively of cashew nut production and producer income in this agricultural sector. Côte d'Ivoire is, since 2015, the world's leading producer with a production of more than 1,000,000 T / year, welcomed Mr. Gue, during the launch of the activities of the monitoring committees of this sector in the regions of the Ivory Coast. It ranks as the world's leading exporter of raw cashew nuts with more than 800,000 tonnes and remains the world's third processor and exporter of cashew kernels after Vietnam and India since 2020. The production of cashew nuts generates an income of more than 300 billion FCFA to producers per year for a direct and indirect turnover of more than 650 billion FCFA per year. "In total, more than 400,000 cashew producers cultivate on an area of ​​1,360,000Ha", noted the director of information systems at the CCA. There are more than 1,200 approved buyers, 160 approved exporters and 33 approved processors per campaign, who work in this area of ​​activity. According to Mr. Gue Simplice, these notable advances are the result of the government policy implemented. “As soon as he came to power in 2011, the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara and his government embarked on a vast economic recovery program which resulted in structural reforms in the agricultural sector, in particular the cashew nut sectorâ€, a- he explained. For him, this reform has contributed to the current upturn in the sector. The Council for the Regulation, Monitoring and Development of the Cotton and Cashew Sectors in short, the Cotton and Cashew Council was thus created by law 2013-656 of September 13, 2013.
