The Béré region recorded a production of 160,000 tonnes of cashew nuts in 2021, according to the production director at the Cotton and Cashew Council, Dr Mariam Gniré Ouattara. “The Béré region recorded a production of 160,000 tonnes of cashew nuts in 2021. This represents 17% of national marketed production. Thus this region remains the first region of cashew nut production,†said Dr. Ouattara, at the end of an awareness workshop for actors in the cashew sector, in Tiéningboué, a locality in the department of Mankono. She congratulated the cashew producers of the Béré region while urging them to respect all good harvest and post-harvest practices before marketing their production. The Béré region is located in the Center North of Côte d'Ivoire, 520 km from Abidjan. It is bounded to the north by the Bagoué and Poro regions, to the south by the Gbêkê, Marahoué and Haut Sassandra regions, to the east by the Hambol region and to the west by the Worodougou region. . The reform of the cashew sector adopted in 2013 by the government has given a boost to the development of this sector, making Côte d'Ivoire the world's leading producer of cashew nuts from 2015 with a production that has increased from 500 000 in 2013 to 702,510 tons. This production reached 968,676 in 2021, representing almost a quarter of the world's cashew production.
