  • Seed support provided to producers increased yield in Siirt 10/3/2021

    With the seed support provided in the Tillo district of Siirt, the harvest has started in the sesame planted in the spring. Sesame seeds were distributed to 17 growers in Hatrant village for cultivation on 100 decares of land, within the scope of the "Project for the Development of Crop Production" by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry .In the spring, the harvest of sesame, which was planted by the hands of the villagers, began.Ergün Demirhan, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, said that farmers who produce with traditional methods achieved high yields with the support provided. Expressing that they expect a yield of around 40 tons from a 300-decare area throughout the province, Demirhan stated that they aim to produce on an area of 1000 acres in the coming years and to achieve a yield of 150 tons with the projects and studies to be carried out.Hatrant village headman Hayrettin Beydoğan also stated that they have achieved good yields in sesame production and said, "While the region is affected by drought in general, the yield is good. While we used to get 100 kilograms of sesame seeds in previous years, we can get 150 kilograms of yield this year with the support provided. If the support continues, the sesame cultivation areas in our village will increase even more. " he said.
