The selling price of cashew nut is on the rise in the department of Nassian, going from 305 F Cfa to 400 F Cfa, said the representative of the cotton-cashew sector, Coulibaly Brahima, during a conference at the prefecture, Monday 12 April 2021. In the localities of Kotouba and the sub-prefectures of Nassian and Sominasse, cashew nuts are purchased, respectively at 400 F and 390 F Cfa. The mandatory floor price of well-dried cashew nuts, sorted and containing no foreign matter, had been set at 305 CFA francs at the opening of the campaign, on February 5, 2021. In 2020, the department of Nassian had produced over 7,315 tonnes of cashew nuts. When, in previous seasons, its cashew production was below 5,000 tonnes. This substantial increase is explained by the fight against small buyers called pisteurs for the benefit of the only approved cooperative in the department, assured the representative of the cotton-cashew sector.
