Currently, many households growing cashew in Binh Phuoc province are in the early harvest stage. However, due to continuous rain, the purchase price of fresh cashew nuts is lower than that of the 2020 crop, making people worried. According to cashew growers, from the beginning of March, the purchase price of fresh cashew nuts at the beginning of the crop is 28,000-29,000 VND / kg. By the end of the month, the price dropped to more than 20,000 VND / kg. Many households who have cashew orchards with little cotton for the first time worry will continue to lose income like last year's crop. This year, many orchards began to bloom quite late. The second flowering wave is affected by hot weather and heavy rain, so most of the fruiting rate per tree is low compared to every year. Currently, many cashew areas are also in the third stage of flowering, but with unusual weather, it will affect the flowering and fruit setting. Mr. Dieu Ung's family in Tho Son commune, Bu Dang district has nearly 5ha of cashew. Currently, although it is in the harvest stage of the first season, the yield is just over 200 kg. Facing the impact of unusual weather, cashew trees have dried up and lost their fruits, Mr. Ung said: “This year there are few fruits due to the influence of erratic weather. At the beginning of the season, the purchase price of about 29,000 VND / kg is now falling at lower prices. The people who grow cashew we are worried about because the weather, the price is not stable. Every time at the main harvest time and at the end of the season, the purchase price of fresh cashew nuts is very low. Although some households are harvesting at the beginning of the season, many orchards are mainly thanks to the second wave of anxiety because the flowers are wilting, the fruit falls, and the price tends to decrease. Anh Hung Loc, Son Trung village, Duc Hanh commune, Bu Gia Map district has more than 4ha of cashew in a less happy situation. “It rains often these days. Every time it rains, the buying points lower their prices, ”said Mr. Loc. Chairman of Duc Hanh Commune People's Committee (Bu Gia Map district) Nguyen Tuan Anh said that this year's cashew crop will not reach yield compared to last year. The weather is still erratic, affecting fruit production. Most of the second blossoming was damaged. The third wave, many gardens are also preparing to flower. If the weather keeps raining often, people will lose revenue. The purchasing price is lower than that of the year outside the beginning of the season, but it is not a big difference. In this locality, the purchasing price from the beginning of the month has fluctuated around 27,000-29,000 VND / kg. On rainy days, prices will drop lower. People here mainly depend on the cashew season, if the weather and prices are not stable, people will have difficulties. Due to the impact of COVID-19 epidemic, this year's cashew crop continues to forecast many difficulties. Cashew farmers want the State to have a price support policy to increase the price of raw cashew, helping farmers feel secure to stick with cashew. Binh Phuoc province currently has an area of 137,000 hectares, which is among the leading groups of staple crops and provides a significant source of income for the people in this province. People hope that when entering the main season, the price of cashew will gradually increase and stabilize so that farmers can invest in care for the next crop.
