Cashew production in Ivory Coast, one of the world’s top producers, rose 42% to a record 902,000 tonnes this year as the closure of its borders to stem the spread of the coronavirus also curtailed smuggling, the government said on Thursday. Favourable weather also helped farmers beat production forecasts, the government said in a statement. Cashew exports dipped 22% to 403,000 tonnes this season, while the country has 163,000 tonnes of cashew stocks, the government said.
