  • Vietnam: The import of raw materials doubled

    <p>According to General Administration of Customs, the import volume of raw cashew nuts from Vietnam in early to mid-December reached 632,000 tonnes, worth nearly USD 592 million almost doubled over the same period previous year. Most of the imported raw cashew nuts are used to produce goods for export. Statistics show that the volume of cashew nuts for processing imports stood at 563,000 tonnes, accounting for 95% of the total import volume.</p> <p>Meanwhile, the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas) said, in 2013 its projected exports reached 250,000 tons, turnover of $ 1.8 billion. This is the 8th consecutive year (2006-2013) Vietnam&#39;s industries surpassed India to hold the World No. 1 position on the export of cashew kernels. If communities are by-products such as cashew nut shell oil, cashew export value in 2013 was estimated at $ 2 billion.</p> <p>According to the draft scheme of sustainable development sector in 2020 that Vietnam has announced that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development objectives by 2020 the total value of commodities that will reach over $ 2.5 billion for domestic and foreign consumption.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
