  • Almond up on tight supply

    <p>Almond prices rose by ` 200 per 40 kg in the national capital on Saturday on the back of tight supplies from overseas markets due to higher import costs on weakening rupee.</p> <p>Fresh buying by retailers and stockists also supported the rise in the prices. Almond California rose by ` 200 to conclude at ` 14,100 per 40 kg and its kernel prices traded higher at ` 500-505 as compared with ` 490-500 per kg, respectively.</p> <p>Almond gurbandi and girdhi prices also increased by ` 100 each to settle at ` 7,300-7,700 and ` 3,600-3,800 per 40 kg, respectively.</p> <p>Market analysts said tight supplies from overseas markets and depreciating rupee, mainly pushed up almond prices in the dry fruit market here.</p> <p>The following are today&rsquo;s quotations (per 40 kg): Almond (California) ` 14,100 Almond (Gurbandi-new) ` 7,300-7,700; Almond (Girdhi) ` 3,600-3,800; Abjosh Afghani ` 8,000-20,000. Almond Kernel (California-new) ` 500-550 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) ` 350-470 per kg.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
