<p>Growers should follow the right technologies and recommendations of scientists to reap the benefits of cashew cultivation, according to MG Nayak, Acting Director of Directorate of Cashew Research (DCR) at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district.Speaking at the foundation day of DCR at Puttur on Saturday, he said the adoption of the latest crop technologies and the use of high-yielding cashew varieties are the need of the hour, to realise a quantum jump in production and productivity of cashew nut.</p> <p>Promising DCR’s cooperation to cashew growers in the region, he said the achievements of innovative farmers will motivate other farmers to take up cashew cultivation in a scientific manner.Speaking on the occasion, DC Chowta, a farmer from Kasaragod district of Kerala, said farmers of the region have given more thrust to areca nut cultivation. He suggested they should grow cashew and other fruit-bearing crops.</p> <p>Chowta said farmers should be able to fix the price for their produce, and farming should be taken up as a happy enterprise.Venkatesh Hubballi, Director of Kochi-based Directorate of Cashew and Cocoa Development, said cashew growers are getting a lot of encouragement as cashew is now getting a good price.</p>
