<p></p><p>Provincial Agriculture Ministry officials have planned to promote cashew cultivation in the Matale district. A new project in this regard will be launched this year. The officials will distribute a new high yielding cashew variety among cultivators.</p><p>Cashew cultivation will be promoted in Laggala, Wilgamuwa, Rattota and Dewahuwa under the first phase of the programme. <br></p> <p>Meanwhile, during the last two decades, over 2,000 acres were utilised for cashew cultivation. The cultivators have reaped a good yield from these cultivations. The cultivators said cashew based products have a high demand in local and foreign markets. They said low income families have shown interest in cashew cultivation.</p><p></p>
