<p>The Cabinet has approved in principle a proposal for floating a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for importing raw cashew for government and private companies. The Cabinet which met here on Wednesday, felt that the SPV could also do processed nut trading too, if needed. The decision was made after considering the crisis gripping the cashew sector that employs 3 lakh women. As much as 6 lakh tonnes of raw cashew is needed for functioning of all factories in the State, but the production is limited to 80,000 tonnes. Now the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation and the Cashew Workers Apex Society are floating tenders to procure raw cashew.</p> <h2 style="font-style:normal">Wage revision</h2> <p>The meeting decided to revise the wages and service conditions of farm workers who come under the ambit of the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development departments. As many as 108 posts would be created in Ernakulam Medical College. A decision has been made to complete the survey of assets of the Wakf Board assets in a time-bound manner. Wakf Department Secretary A.Shajahan has been appointed as Survey Commissioner too. District Collectors would be the additional survey commissioners.</p> <p>Inspector-General for Registration E. Devadas has been appointed managing director of the Kerala State Cooperative Bank. He would also be holding additional charge of the managing director of State Cooperative Agriculture-Urban Development Bank too. Survey and Land Records Director K.Gopalakrishnan would be holding additional charge of Registration IG. Dr.Suresh Babu would be appointed managing director of Marketfed.</p>
