<p>Medziphema, March 31 (MExN): Two days training cum exposure visit on ‘Advances in production and processing of Cashew nut’ was conducted for progressive Cashew farmers of Nagaland and Meghalaya by Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), DAC&FW, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Medziphema on March 24 and 25 Bhubaneswar, Odisha.</p> <p>The programme was organized to equip the farmers with the advanced production technology and of processing of Cashewnut for better income generation.During the technical session Dr. P.C. Lenka, Professor, Horticulture, O.U.A.T, Bhubaneswar emphasized on the topic of Agro ecological recommended varieties in Cashew. The importance of quality planting material and variety on cashew was delivered by Kabita Sethy, Horticulturist, AICRP on Cashew, OUAT, Bhubaneswar and Dr. P.K. Panda, Horticulturist, AICRP on Cashew, OUAT, Bhubaneswar, deliberated on the topic of establishment and maintenance of cashew plantation. Dr. S. Mukharjee, Associate Professor& Head, AICRP on Cashew, OUAT, Bhubaneswar gave lecture on the topic of pest and disease management on cashew.</p> <p>Certificates were distributed to all the participants along with reading materials. A press release informed that altogether 20 Cashew growers attended the programme accompanied by one CIH official, Eliyamo Humtsoe, FA. The programme was coordinated by Shisarenla Aier, i/c Training, CIH, Medziphema.</p>
