  • BOAD identifies projects to be financed in the Ivorian agricultural sector

    <p>The president of the West African Development Bank (BOAD), Christian Adovelande, met on Thursday, as part of an identification and programming mission, the Ivorian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, With a view to setting up a program of projects to be financed in the years to come.&quot;We have come to see with the minister the mature projects on which we can work very, very quickly,&quot; declared the President of the BOAD, at the end of this meeting held in the minister&#39;s office, at the building of The Caistab, in the Plateau (Abidjan).</p> <p>According to Mr. Adovelande, a list of ready projects was given to his institution on water control, food crops and crop insurance. &quot;With the list we have, we have enough to have a portfolio that allows us to fulfill our commitments vis-&agrave;-vis the State in relation to the financing of the national development program,&quot; he said.This mission falls within the framework of the Bank&#39;s commitments in the National Development Plan (PND 2015-2020), notably on rural development and agriculture, said the president of the BOAD.</p> <p>The BOAD has pledged to finance 350 billion CFA francs the PND over the five years with already 90 billion FCFA disbursed. This meeting with the BOAD is part of the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to encourage the private sector to take an interest in agricultural projects, it stresses.</p>
