  • Chile estimate 90,000 tons of Walnuts

    <p>According to information provided by the Chilean Walnut Commission, weather conditions in recent months have been favorable for this fruit.&quot;During winter, the crops accumulated enough cold hours. Then, the weather conditions were good in spring, as there were no frosts, which allowed the crops to have a good flowering and fruit set. The fruit has developed smoothly in recent weeks,&quot; the Commission stated in a press release.</p> <p>Currently Chile has about 44,000 hectares of walnut trees planted, 60% of which are fully productive.As a result, the industry projects it will harvest around 90,000 tons of walnuts in the a 2017 harvest, a figure they expect to double within the next 5 years.</p>
