Nguyen Duc Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), has said the first 10 months of this year, our country exported more than 290,000 tons of cashew nuts, earning about US $ 2.3 billion. This figure increased by 6% in volume and an increase of nearly 17% in value over the same period. US, Netherlands and China are the three major import markets of Vietnam that market shares were 34%, 14% and 13% of the total value of exports of cashew nuts.

"This year is expected to export cashew nuts worth $ 3 billion, more than tripled over the same period last year. With this result, Vietnam will continue to maintain a 50% share of the total value of the global cashew trade. Thus, this is the 11th consecutive year Vietnam cashew industry holds a leading position in the export of cashew kernels "- Mr Quick said.

However, forecasts this year, Vietnam will have to import up to 1 million tons of raw cashew nuts as the supply of raw materials in the country is not producing enough. Export processing depends on external sources of raw materials, which makes the industry difficult to control the quality, food safety and hygiene.

Quang Huy
