<p>BHUBANESWAR: To boost export potential, the state government has decided to set up export promotion councils in the city. To export state's export potential, the state government may also come up a Raptani Bhawan through Odisha Small Industries Corporation.Data available with the state government said, in 2015-16, the state government exported metallurgical products worth Rs 10,814 crore followed by electronics and software products worth Rs 2700 crore, marine products of worth Rs 1967 crore and engineering, chemical and allied products worth Rs 1295 crore. In 2016-17, Odisha sets a target to scale up the export performance to the tune of Rs 21559 crore against total Rs 17,346 crore achieved in 2015-16. The decision was taken here in a high level meeting chaired by chief secretary A P Padhi on Thursday. The councils will be set up on various products like handicraft, handloom, cashew, software, engineering goods, agricultural and sea food products, said an official statement.The chief secretary directed different departments like textiles, handlooms and handicraft, industries, agriculture, fisheries and animal resources development, steel and mines, and electronics and information technology to set up the council in their respective departments, the statement said.
